Is hiring cheap a mistake?

Here’s a good article I ran across recently that offers some insight into putting together the “right” offer.  One of the biggest challenges recruiters face right now are companies with unrealistic expectations, they want “A” level talent, but since unemployment is high and talent seems readily available they don’t believe they need to put together aggressive or competitive offers.  This practice is one of the biggest mistakes a company can make as top talent will always be recruited and if you don’t pay market average salary or higher, you will have a hard time retaining the talent you’ve worked so hard to get on board.  At the end of day, the old saying “You get what you pay for” rings true when it comes to hiring top performers and if companies fail to realize or act accordingly it’s going to be a challenge to retain people the next few years as the turnaround continues.
